La Paz — cable cars over the city bowl

Bolivia is one of the cheapest entries into South America: La Paz (administrative capital, ~3,600 m, cable cars), Santa Cruz (business and heat, closer to “normal” remote work), Sucre (colonial pace and Spanish schools). Uyuni and Titicaca are tourism, not a work base.

Many passports — including Russia, the EU, the UK, and the US since December 2025 — enter visa-free for about 90 days. There is no digital-nomad visa. Before the border you still need a free SIGEMIG QR. The 2025–26 friction points: access to dollars, QR payments without a local account, road blockades and fuel, and landing altitude at El Alto. Start with visa and the before-you-arrive checklist.
